County Youth went down 4-2 at Walsall on Saturday morning.

Trailing 2-1 at half-time Alex Elliott got the young Hatters back on level terms with a 25-yard screamer after the break.

And they almost took the lead soon after but Neil Holmes' effort bounced to safety off the crossbar.

The Saddlers sealed victory, though, with two gaols in the final five minutes.

Paul Ennis was the other County marksmen.

Coach Craig Madden told stgockportcopuntyu.com. "We weren't at the races in the first half but we played some really good football and dominated for much of the second half and were very unlucky not to make it 3-2.

"There were one or two good individual performances and Alex Elliott scored a fantastic goal for our equaliser.

"Overall we didn't deserve to win but 4-2 certainly flattered Walsall."
