Chris turned professional at West Bromwich Albion in July 1997 and made his Football League debut at Edgeley Park on 11 April 1998 in front of 7,943.
At the Hawthorns he had loan spells at six clubs, including Swedish side Brage in March 1999.
Chris left the UK to sign for eircom League side St Patrick's Athletic in 2003 where he enjoyed a measure of success, winning the League Cup that season and also being nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year. After two years, and 66 games, Chris joined Sheffield Wednesday on 28 January 2005.
Although he was released by the Owls at the end of the season Wednesday re-signed him and he remained in South Yorkshire another two years before joining County this summer.
