I'M QUITE HAPPY
Hatters boss Jim Gannon has revealed that he is happy with his current playing squad and it is unlikely that it will need to be further strengthened before the end of the January transfer window.
At the turn of the new year Gannon drafted in Jim McNulty, Leon McSweeney, James Smith and Danny Pilkington, but with the injury list easing by the week and County being in such great form, it's perhaps no surprise that the big Irishman is content at present.
Gannon said: "I'm quite happy with the depth and the balance of the squad right now.
"The only concern I do have is that we do need goalkeeping cover.
"To that end I have put some contingency plans in place and something may happen next week, but other than that we'll just wait and see now.
"As long as we can keep all the current squad together during January then we'll be okay. I've been particularly happy with the progress of some of our younger players."
Left-back Paul Tierney has now gone back to Blackpool - with a huge pat on the back from Gannon - following his successful half-season loan at Edgeley Park, but are any other current players likely to leave County before the transfer window closes?
"We've had a few tentative phone calls," acknowledged Gannon. "A couple of clubs have asked about the progress of some of our players.
"But we have had no serious requests from anyone, and no formal offers."
County bid to extend their three-game winning streak in League Two on Saturday when they host Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
This week's Stockport Express is now on sale, priced 44p.
