Jim Gannon made four changes from the side that drew at Wycombe last Sunday.
Dominic Blizzard failed to recover from the calf injury he picked up at Adams Park which earned Stephen Gleeson a start.
Jim McNulty, who replaced hamstring-victim Michael Raynes six days a go, continued alongside Gaz Owen at the back.
The County chief then sprung two surprises with Conrad Logan preferred ahead of John Ruddy and Leon McSweeney given the nod ahead of Anthony Pilkington.
Ruddy and Pilkington joined Jason Taylor, James Tunnicliffe and Adam Proudlock on the bench.
County had a corner ball just second into the match when Tommy Rowe burst down the left wing to the roar from the home faithful, his effort to cross was blocked though, resulting in the set-piece. Wycombe defended well, but Michael Rose was allowed second attempt that went well over.
Chairboys manager, Paul Lambert was getting a hot reception, in what was a cauldron of atmosphere at Edgeley Park.
A poor back head by Turnbull meant that Logan had to be at his best to catch the ball. The on-running McGleish went to ground when he ran into Logan's powerful frame.
A cleverly worked corner at the other end, between Rowe and Rose, saw a chance for McSweeney whose 18 yard drive went just wide of the post.
County had the lead in magnificent style when Liam Dickinson burst from the centre of the park and dispatched the ball coolly past the grasp of Fielding to send the home fans into wonderland. The roar was incredible.
It was all County in the opening exchanges, as they defended resolutely at the back and looked dangerous whenever they went forward, they were clearly buoyed by the magnificent support.
Wycombe clattered the cross bar in a rare effort on the 24th minute, but in truth it was never going to trouble Logan. Seconds later Facey headed clear, after some desperate defending from The Hatters.
Leon McSweeney's cross into the box was too close to Fielding for The Hatters players to provide the finish at the other end. Moments after this The Irishman was involved in a moment of controversy when he was yellow-carded for a challenge that incensed manager Paul Lambert, as the pressure was beginning to clearly get to The Scot.
Wycombe were putting some pressure on the County goal in the closing exchanges of the second half, but County were dominant in defence as The Chairboys continued to be frustrated. In truth many of these attempts were never going to really trouble County; Scott McGleish's poor effort that went high and wide from inside the area exemplified this.
Gary Holt went close with a shot from inside the area as the clock turned down, but Conrad Logan gathered well.
