Jim Gannon named the side that finished against Darlington on Saturday.

He also recalled fit-again Adam Proudlock and Shaleum Logan on the bench

County started off firing on all cylinders as they tried to kill off a side low on confidence from the outset.

County had a couple of good chances within the first five minutes when Liam Dickinson fired a low ball into the area that the on-running Rowe could not quite get to.Moments later Gary Dicker's headed effort was well saved by Muggleton.

Mansfield had a fair few chances of their own as well, the best came when Johnny Mullins ghosted in at the far post but his effort glanced just wide.

It was clear that The Stags were not going to lie down easily and they were making it hard for County to gain space. Dickinson was being heavily marked and any crosses into the area were being blocked effectively. Meanwhile the midfield were effectively breaking down the Hatters, with good physical challenges.

Mansfield issued a warning shot when Jonathan D'Laryea burst through the middle with awesome pace and put a shot in on goal that Ruddy did well to save.

Their was a moment of controversy when Mansfield were given the lead through a Gary Dicker. Ruddy had looked to have fouled Boulding in the build up. The ref didn't give a penalty and the ball ended up in the back of the net. The linesman appeared to be flagging for an infringement but after the referee went over to consult with him he turned and awarded the goal.

The Hatters went close to getting back on level terms two minutes before the break when Jason Taylor's effort was deflected wide for a corner. The anxious County fans did not have to wait long to celebrate though as Muggleton punched Gleeson's corner into his own net; much to the relief of the home fans.

Two bizare own goals. How appropriate that Iain Dowie was on the gantry commentating for Sky Sports!

Second Half

Their was a good chance for County in the opening few minutes when Michael Rose launched a powerful cross into the area, that Jason Taylor ran on to but Keith Briggs, who came on during the interval to warm applause, made a great clearance at the far post.

County were struggling to break down a resilient Mansfield side, Jim recognised this and made the changes just 10 minutes into the second half with Pilkington replacing Gleeson and Proudlock coming on for Taylor.

Rowe went close to getting the vital second for County with a long range effort on the 57th minute, and this triggered a bombardment of the away goal as County tried to find the vital winner. In truth, Ruddy had very little to do at the other end, as the County defence held firm.

The Hatters were awarded a penalty when Tommy Rowe was bundled down in the area by Mullins, who was sent off for the offence. Dickinson converted the resulting spot-kick, to send County into a deserved lead.

Michael Raynes went agonisingly close to getting a third for The Hatters from a corner ball, as County started to ooze with confidence with Blizzard and Rowe also going close.Michael Rose very nearly scored a sensational goal with an effort from 25 yards out, that had clearly beaten Muggleton but glanced just wide of the far post.

As the game ebbed into the final few minutes Adam Proudlock won the ball on the halfway line and unselfishly passed to Dickinson in space. However, the prolific strikers angle was too tight and he ended up shooting straight at Muggleton.
