John Ruddy and Shaleum Logan came straight into the County side following their arrival on 28 day loan deals. Conrad Logan was suspended, whilst Michael Raynes, Jamie Smith and Jimmy McNulty were out with injury.
The first chance of the game fell to Jason Taylor who had a right-footed shot from 20 yards out, but it was never going to trouble Kenny Arthur in the home goal.
On loan Manchester City right-back Logan was impressing with his fierce pace and the little full back burst from his position into the Accrington area, but his shot-cum-cross could not be put away.
There was a moment of controversy when Ian Craney was seen to bite County skipper, Ashley Williams. Williams, however, sportingly made little of the challenge.
Accrington created the best chance of a poor first half when Paul Mullin burst between Ash Williams and Gaz Owen on the 15th minute to put in a powerful header on goal that went just wide.
County had the all important lead on the 33rd minute when Logan delivered a wonderful free-kick from the left hand edge of the area that Liam Dickinson headed home. The goal was better than the game itself.
At the other end, Ruddy claimed the ball well to deny Proctor a golden chance to get Stanley back on level terms. It was a confident catch, and something that is good to see your keeper do.
Liam Dickinson and Jason Taylor had efforts on goal from a wonderful Logan corner ball, as the Manchester City defender continued to impress.
Second Half
Dickinson had a golden opportunity to score a second, when Logan found him in space but his header went well wide.Sean Webb produced a terrific block to deny Dickinson again moments later as The Hatters started to look dangerous.
Webb was involved again when he brought down Adam Proudlock in the area, Michael Rose took the resulting kick but his effort was saved by Arthur.
Logan had an effort on goal from a free-kick as County continued to pile on the pressure. Moments after this Dickinson found Tommy Rowe but the ball bobbled horribly as another chance went begging. Accrington had efforts themselves with Mangan and Craney going close, but they never seemed to bother the calm John Ruddy.
Dickinson scored a brillaint second goal from 18 yards out, when he shrugged off Thomas and beat Arthur with a pwerful shot on the turn. Credit had to go to the referee who allowed play to go on after an earlier foul on Proudlock.
Some fantastic build up play between Proudlock and Rowe, set Dicko up for his hat-trick but his effort went wide. Moments later Rowe went close as County started to play 'fantasy football'.
Dickinson's brilliant work led to an effort for Proudlock, whose lob was headed off the line by Thomas. Accrington were by now very much second best. Proudlock had another chance minutes later after good work by man-of-the-match Logan.
Dicko's 45 yard effort wasn't far away as he went for his hat-trick, but this would be last touch of the game when he was replaced by Anthony Pilkington. Rowe also made way for Adam Griffin.
County were ripping Accrington apart and when Griffin went agonisingly close Stanley were lucky not to be further behind.
