Jim Gannon named the eleven that beat Wrexham last weekend as County searched for their first away win of the season at Griffin Park
There was a change on the bench, though, with Keith Briggs replacing David Poole who hadn't shaken off a virus and didn't travel to West London.
Two Anthony Elding penalties put County in control at Griffin Park.
Both were conceded by Brentford's John Mackie and both were put away with ease by the Hatters leading marksman on 6 and 43 minutes.
In between there was a controversial moment when Jim Gannon was sent to the stand by referee Kevin Friend following an altercation with Bees' boss Terry Butcher.
Elding completed his hat-trick after the break with a brilliant goal on 61 minutes. McNeil was provider once again when he flicked the ball into Elding's path who hit the ball early and his angled dive flashed past Simon Brown in the Bees goal.
The home side could have no real complaints as the Hatters had carved out plenty of chances.
Elding might have scored in the first minute with Dominic Blizzard, Gaz Owen and Adam Proudlock all coming close before the break.
The Hatters did have Conrad Logan to thank for a fantastic point-blank save to deny Glenn Poole on 18 minutes.
To their credit the Bees stepped up a pace towards the end and continued to pass the ball neatly.
And they were rewarded when Alan Connell hit a powerful half-volley past Logan nine minutes from time.
The former Hereford striker almost grabbed another three minutes later and then header over shortly after when he should have hit the target.
This was the Hatters' day, though, and the players raced over to celebrate with the vociferous and colourful Blue & White Army on the final whistle.
