Jim Gannon made two changes from the side that created Football League history last Saturday.
Tes Bramble, who missed the victory over Swindon with a virus, replaced Adam Proudlock.
And David Poole was recalled in place of Anthony Pilkington who dropped to the bench.
County, kicking down the slope, soon had Barnet under pressure.
With four minutes on the clock Bramble cut inside on the edge of the box but miscued with his left foot.
The Hatters continued to press and Dominic Blizzard was unlucky with a powerful 20-yard drive that was turned over the bar by Ross Flitney.
The Bees responded when Adam Birchall's cross from the right was well cleared by Rob Clare.
The Hatters were soon back on the attack, though, and Anthony Elding came close on 12 minutes after Poole and Adam Griffin had carved out the opening.
Gareth Owen should have nudged home Poole's corner but couldn't get enough on the ball to beat Flitney.
Midway through the half Joe Devra's header caused Wayne Hennessey an anxious moment but the keeper gathered the ball at the second attempt.
Poole was off target with a couple of shots from distance before County grabbed a deserved lead.
Michael Rose hit a pinpoint corner from the right and Tes Bramble powered home a near-post header on 30 minutes.
Barnet responded well to going behind and shocked the travelling Blue & White Army when Oliver Allen scored from the edge of the box, with the aid of a deflection, after the County defence failed to clear a corner.
It was the first goal conceded by Hennessey in 14 hours 15 minutes as a County player - the travelling Army responded by cheering the moment!
Half-time: Barnet 1 County 1
Barnet stunned County seconds after the re-start when Dean Sinclair scored from the edge of the box, again with the help of a deflection, after a slip from Gareth Owen.
Ashley Williams then headed against his own crossbar as the Bees pressure mounted.
The Hatters had Liam Dickinson to thank for bravely heading clear at the far post. The big striker took a blow to the back of his head and needed lengthy treatment from Rodger Wylde before continuing.
Allen forced a save from Hennessey as County had no answer to Barnet's neat pass and move football.
Puncheon was causing all sorts of problems down the Barnet left and from another mazy run past Clare and Williams Hennessey did well to save his angled drive.
It was so nearly 3-1 seconds later but Clare popped up inside the six-yard box to clear.
County then had a stonewall penalty appeal turned down when a home defender handled Anthony Pilkington's free kick.
The Bees then had another let off when Flitney left Rose's speculative ball into the box and watched in horror as it smacked against the cross bar. Unfortunately no one was on had to fire home the rebound.
Barnet wrapped up the points when Liam Hatch scored after an error from Williams left him with a clear run on goal and he beat Hennessey from 18 yards.
In a final flurry at the end Stuart Lewis shot wide for Barnet with Jason Taylor forcing Flitney into a good save at the other end.
