County have now bettered their total points tally from last season as they recorded their seventh consecutive league win. Their best record since the Second World War.

Jim Gannon had been forced to shuffle his pack, following an injury to Adam Proudlock. Anthony Pilkington started up front alongside Anthony Elding, whilst Adam Griffin took his place on the left flank.

YTS Tommy Rowe was rewarded with a place on the bench, following some solid displays for the youth team.

County were almost in front after just 1 minute when Anthony Pilkington rounded the Accrington keeper, having got on the end of an Adam Griffin cross. However  a Stanley defender was on hand to clear the ball.

Jason Taylor went close 6 minutes later, when Anthony Elding lay the ball off to him but his shot went just over the crossbar.

Having soaked up some pressure from the home side, County were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area that Michael Rose took. Robert Clare ghosted in at the far post but his headed ball went just wide.

Moments later Jason Taylor dispossed Boco and found David Poole in space. Poole did well to keep the ball in play and crossed for Anthony Elding, who went inches wide.

Rob Clare looked up for this one, and he  went agonisingly close yet again, when he got on the end of a Anthony Pikington flick.

There was a scramble in the box, when Anthony Elding, Rob Clare and Dominic Blizzard had headers cleared off the line. Przemyslaw Kazimierczak looked incredibly shaky.

Accrington had Leam Richardson to thank for clearing ball off the line following a powerful Anthony Elding shot, as Stanley somehow continued to hold on.

GOAL! County finally scored though, when Dominic Blizzard cleared the ball from a Stanley attack. Anthony Pilkington gathered the ball and found Adam Griffin in space. Griffin slotted home at the far post to give County a deserved lead.

After the goal, County were on the backfoot for much of the second half as Accrington started to turn the screw, having changed their formation at the break. Substitute, Andy Todd was particuarly impressive.

County had a number of good chances though, with man-of-the-match Robert Clare involved in both. Anthony Elding got on the end of a good ball from the right back and drilled a right-footed shot from 12 yards out that was parried by Kazimierczak.

Clare's left-footed 25 yard shot moments later was well saved by the Bolton loanee Przemyslaw Kazimierczak.

One of Accrington's best chances came when  Robert Clare was booked, resulting in a free kick from a dangerous area, that Shaun Whalley took from the left. In the end though, Jason Taylor was on hand to block it.

Man of the Match: Robert Clare. Covered every blade of grass today.
