Glenn Murray returned to the County line up following an injury sustained in midweek. Adam Proudlock came straight into the side in the place of Adam Le Fondre, other than that it was as you were.
The first chance of the game fell to the away side, when Benjamin shot from 18 yards and it took a strong save from Ruddy to deny them the lead.
Some delightful wing play from Malcolm found Proudlock in the box. The former Wolves man tried a scissor kick but unfortunately for County it went narrowly over the cross bar.
County must have felt like it wasn't going to be their day when first Malcolm had his shot blocked by a sea of Peterborough bodies and then Briggs effort on the rebound was in a similar vein. The Posh eventually managed to clear the ball but only as far as Jason Taylor whose shot went inches wide.
After this both sides had a number of opportunities to break the deadlock when first Benjamin fired a shot in from close range that Ruddy was equal to and then Murray having beat his man fired a speculative curling shot in on goal, however in truth it was never going to trouble Tyler.
The Hatters were to go desperately close 5 minutes before the interval when Malcolm found Murray in the box, but from just yards out the on loan man could not convert this golden opportunity by chipping over the advancing Tyler.
GOAL! Within seconds of the restart the away side were in the lead when Tes Bramble lost possession from kick off, the ball fell kindly to Peterborough who punished this mistake and an unmarked Benjamin was able to turn and hit the ball first time from just yards out. Not the start County had been hoping for!
It took a wonderful save from John Ruddy to deny The Posh a second when Danny Crow made an excellent run and executed a good shot, that against another keeper could well have seen County two behind.
There were strong appeals for offside when Danny Crow broke free of a County attack to find himself one on one with John Ruddy. In the end though the Toffee man made a wonderful save with his right foot to keep the score at just one goal to nil.
It was to prove to be a disappointing afternoon for County as they failed to break down a very resilient Posh side. However the continuing form of young Jason Taylor and their overall solid defensive display will encourage them. Better finishing would have seen County grab all 3 points here.
In honesty though County need to regain their form from two games ago if they are to make anything of the season. Bring on the Bees!
