Chris Turner made one change for the vital Cup clash at Edgar Street with Mickael Wolski returning to partner Danny Boshell in central midfield.

Keith Briggs, who made way for the Frenchman at Mansfield last Saturday, didn't make the 16-man squad.

Here was also a surprise on the bench with Dean Crowe included for the first time since the 3-0 defeat at Wrexham back n October.

With Carl Ikeme refused permission to play, Turner named youth team 'keeper Craig Duncan as one of his five substitutes.

The Haters got off to a dream start when Jermaine Easter burst clear to smash the ball past Craig Mawson with just a couple of minutes on the clock.

The Bulls best response in the opening exchanges came after a spell of pressure that ended with the ball at the feet of Guy Ipoua but the former Gillingham man sliced his shot wide.

Chances at either end were at a premium but, on 24 minutes, Danny Boshell raced forward into the box but pulled his shot wide.

The Hatters seemed in control of the game at this stage but they were given a warning 9 minutes before the break when Ryan Green chipped the ball forward to Ipoua who got across Michael Raynes to volley just past Spencer's right-hand post.

County had a real let off inside the opening 40 seconds of the restart. Andrew Williams saw a goalbound shot blocked by Ross Greenwood then watched as his follow up from the rebound was well saved by James Spencer.

The Hatters soon regained the upper hand, though, and should have had a penalty when Danny Boshell set up Harpal Singh. The winger's shot was heading for the back of the net when it was blocked by Tamika Mkandawire's arm but the referee waved away the vociferous protests for a spot kick.

On 67 minutes County got the crucial second goal, and what a goal it was! Wolski hit a clearance on the volley from fully 35 yards and it fairly ripped past Mawson.

Within a minute it should have been 3-0 but Singh hit the 'keeper after another flowing County move.

Wolski's goal had knocked the stuffing out of the Bulls and they should have fallen further behind when Tony Jones upended Matty Hamshaw in the box. Easter hit his penalty to close to Mawson, though, and the goalkeeper made an easy save.

With Rob Clare and Michael Raynes dominant at the back a Bulls comeback was never on the cards and the final minutes were played out to the tune of the Blue & White Army victory anthems ringing around Edgar Street.
