OUR HEARTFELT THANKS
Posted on: Thu 22 May 2008
You may remember the Brentford supporters who walked the entire 176-mile journey to Stockport for their final match of the season, all in the name of charity.
We were delighted to hear from them again recently, and here is their message -
"To All Stockport County Fans
I am writing to you on behalf of the 4 Brentford walkers who trekked the 196 miles from Griffin Park to Edgely Park, for the last game of the season. As a group we wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks to the supporters and officials of Stockport County FC. The support that we received throughout the walk and upon our arrival was fantastic.
The hospitality you extended to not only us but some of our volunteers and families went beyond the call of duty. The words of thanks and gratitude are difficult to find, I cannot tell you how much the meal, reception, presentation, bucket collection and other little things that you helped with, meant to us at the end of what was a very long, but exhilarating week.
I think it is fair to say that there will always be a special affinity with Stockport County FC, for us now and although as a Bees United Board member, I personally believe whole-heartedly in the Supporters Trust model, the importance and strength of the relationships that can and should be built between Trust owned clubs has, for me, been highlighted by this event. Together, Trust owned clubs can be stronger. The affection for Stockport County and their fans has led two of us, Chris Tate and myself to attend your Play-Off Final on Monday, probably in our Brentford shirts with Stockport 08 printed on the reverse.
All our hopes for success are with you. Once again our thanks and we hope not to see you next season!
Kindest regards - Natasha Judge, Chris Tate, Peter Maynard and Claire McNicholls"
Stockport County are grateful for your warm message, and, while we sahre your wishes(!) we also greatly look forward to our next match-up with the Bees. Enjoy Monday's game.
