Although his hernia operation was a success Leon McSweeney is still someway short of full-match fitness.

And the Irishman admits that, watching from the sidelines, is 'doing his head in'.

Speaking to stockportcounty.com he said: "The operation was a complete success, but I've been back training for two weeks and it seems that I can't do two days training in a row.

"I do the running on a Saturday before the game then I come in on the Monday and feel great but on the Tuesday I'm, like a tin man; I'm very stiff and just can't seem to run.

"The surgeon says the more training time under your belt the easier it will get, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better at the minute.

"Physiologically it's doing my head in because I want to do more before the end of the season and be part of the promotion push."
