Liam Dickinson has been given the green light to return to the County squad and could now make the bench for Tuesday's historic game at Morecambe.

The big striker had the framework removed from his hand earlier today and an X-ray then revealed that the two bones, broken against Rotherham, had healed perfectly, enabling him to come into immediate contention for our first-ever League game at Christie Park.

A delighted assistant manager, Peter Ward, told stockportcounty.com: "Dicko has done some really hard running whilst he's been out of the side which has kept his fitness levels up.

"He's raring to go and will definitely join the squad for Morecambe."

The Hatters received more good news when David Poole reported fit after recovering from a virus and Chris Adamson was also allowed to return to full training after recovering from a finger injury.

More than 1,000 County fans are expected to make the journey to the seaside town knowing another Hatters victory could elevate them into one of the automatic promotion places.

The players, too, are confident of extending their winning run to three games.

"The lads were on top form at training this morning," Wardy added. "They were very lively and very noisy.

"We're not talking about league positions, though. Our only target is to get the game won. The league table will then look after itself."

County's whole seating allocation has sold out and the remaining terrace tickets will remain on sale until 4.00pm on Tuesday.
