The Stockport County Supporters Trust stunned Daz Sampson on Saturday when they awarded him their very first Life Membership.

The singer/songwriter was at Edgeley Park to present the Trust with a £1000 cheque from the royalties of his County Song - Jim Gannon's Army Goes Marching On when Trust chairman, David Hoyle, sprung his surprise.

Hoyle said: "Daz has been tremendous for County. He has given us his fantastic County Song and also a cheque for £1000 from the downloads.

"The Supporters Trust were delighted to present him with their first Life Membership and we wish him the best of luck for his new London play."

A shocked Daz added: "I was gobsmacked when David made the presentation because I knew nothing about it!

"I am a big supporter of the Supporters Trust, though, and I'm very proud to receive the award."
