COUNTY RESERVES 4 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY RESERVES 2

County were on the attack straight from the kick off, with Claire Tenzer's deep cross inches too high for Katie Sweeney to connect.

With the Sheffield team weaker on the left hand side, the Hatters put a lot of their play through Claire Tenzer, who made several good passes into Sally Wood and Katie Sweeney, and the strikers' movement off the ball caused Wednesday real problems.

Georgina Watton also joined in many attacks and, in the 25th minute, her cross was just cleared by a defender. Ten minutes later Claire Tenzer was clean through on the right, but elected to pass when a better option was to shoot, and the ball was cleared.

All the lethargy of the previous week's performance was well behind the team, and the whole of the first half was one-way traffic, but it remained 0-0 at the break.

Two minutes into the second half, Laura Bowater made her third save of the match, but County went straight to the other end and gratefully accepted a penalty for handball, which Nikki Connor finished on the second attempt,.

The second followed five minutes later with Sally Wood finishing off at the far post with a low angled side foot as the keeper was stranded in the middle of the goal by Katie Sweeney's deceptive cross.

County were dominating now and turning pressure into goals, but Sheffield quickly pulled one back with a free kick into the roof of the net from 25 yards on 56 minutes.

The Hatters re-established their two-goal cushion within two minutes, though, Katie Sweeney turned just inside the box, and shot over the keeper into the far left corner of the goal.

Hayley Marshall, who had a fine match in centre midfield, had to come off after a clash of heads in the 65th minute.

Wednesday were out to make a game of it, and Laura Bowater was in more frequent action to cut out crosses and save more shots.

Again Wednesday got a goal back when awarded a penalty in the 69th minute.

Now County looked a bit vulnerable, but regained composure towards the final five minutes, and Kath Jones finished off a good passing move in the 88th minute with a low drive the keeper failed to hold.

COUNTY HNR 6 WARRINGTON TOWN 1

A full-strength HNR side played some excellent football on Sunday against a side who was a place above them in the table.

HNR opened the scoring in the first 15 minutes through Louise Allwood who fired a shot passed the keeper, she added to this a few minutes later with an accurate lob over the keepers head.

However, Warrington got back into the game a few minutes later with a scrambled goal that just managed to squeeze past Sue Walsh.

HNR regained composure and Sammy Toner made it 3 - 1 with a tap in after the keeper made a great save from a Tamzin Morris shot.

After the break more HNR pressure caused Warrington all sorts of problems defensively and Louise Allwood scored another two.

Towards the end of the game HNR got a free kick on the edge of the box and Karen Weeden curled a beauty into the top right hand corner.

Overall another excellent performance from an ever improving HNR side. Also two great debuts in Carol Plant and Dani Moran meant the HNR squad is going in the right direction.
