Jim Gannon has challenged his side to kick on and try to finish the season in fourth spot.

With County's place in the Play-Offs confirmed the Hatters boss could have been excused for rotating his squad in the last two games.

But, with Chester City still seeking the solitary point to confirm their League status, Gannon feels we not only have to respect the other teams at the foot of the table but also ourselves, especially the massive travelling army.

Speaking exclusively to stockportcounty.com he said: "We owe it to ourselves and we owe it to the 1,800 fans that are going that we put in a performance that reflects the strength of character we have in the team.

"I wouldn't say that I have been angry over the course of the weekend but my mentality has really toughened up and I asked the lads on Monday if they feel the same as me, do they want to finish fourth and be the best team left in this division, if we are left in it.

"We want to finish the season strong and we want to go into the play-offs strong and that means getting the best out of the next two games."
