Jim Gannon expressed his disappointment for the 1,000 strong travelling army after County's brave bid for automatic promotion ended with defeat at Barnet.

Speaking to stockportcounty.com, he said: "I feel for all the fans who are travelling home now because I feel very disappointed for them to come all the way here with high hopes and high expectations because we didn't really give ourselves of winning this game."

The County boss also refused to blame the infamous Underhill slope for the end of our club-record ten-game unbeaten away run.

"That's all kidology," he added. That's nothing to do with it. The bottom line is you have to defend well, you have to be strong, you have to play some good football and some effective football and we didn't do that enough today."
