"We've lost the game on penalties but I thought we played a huge part in a fantastic game.

"It wasn't a humbling experience because I've got a great respect for non-league football.

"I think four of five of our best players from my time at the club have come out of non-league like Ash Williams, Anthony Pilkington Liam Dickinson and Matty McNeil.

"So I've got a great respect for non-league football at every level.

"Tonight was a big game for a lot of our players, 18 and 19 year old's who are new to the pro game, and I thought they were brilliant. They played the game in the right spirit. They played some fantastic football and I'm sure the fans at home would have looked at the game and it beggars belief that we didn't win it.

"But we needed that final touch and finish from the players up front but it wasn't there tonight and Staines hung in there.

"They took it to penalties and it becomes a lottery then."
