Despite watching his side lose 3-1 against Crewe Alexandra, County boss Jim Gannon was delighted with his side's second half performance at the Alexandra Stadium.

Gannon told stockportcounty.com: "If this was a league match I'd be gutted.

"It's always disappointing to lose but when you've got a game by the scruff of the neck it's more disappointing to lose.

"Anyone that wasn't here might expect that result. Crewe at home, a side that's clinical at finishing.

"But I think there were periods in the second half where we looked a really good side.

"Crewe didn't have much possession but what they did with their possession was excellent and that's a huge lesson for our lads."
