Jim Gannon compared Saturday's friendly with Cardiff City to a cup tie, with the amount of goals on offer.

The Hatters boss said: "It's very difficult when you're playing a pre-season game because the players are conscious that it's just a friendly.

"I'm trying to gear them towards league match mentality and so at this stage we're looking for the complete performance.

"But I thought the lads played really well today. It was a bizarre game the fact that it was 6-4.

"It was very much like a cup game with both sides just going for goals.

"There's a lot of work for me to do defensively but I was happy with the way we played in midfield and up front."
